40 LOCAL CHARITIES BENEFIT FROM WINSLOW SHOW
40 charities will receive donations of money raised from this year’s Winslow Show. Local charities, such as Age Concern, Winslow Community Bus, the Brownies and Fire Service Benevolent Fund, were presented with cheques by the Winslow Show Association Committee at an award ceremony held yesterday, Mon 24 November 2007, at the Bell Hotel Winslow.
Over £13,000 raised from this year’s Winslow Show has been distributed to local charities to help them continue their good work in the area. There were 40* charities that benefited from the profits made from the country and agricultural show held annually on the August Bank Holiday.
Mike Freeman, Winslow Show Association chairman, said: “We’re incredibly proud that people support their local charities by visiting the show. It was extremely busy this year and all the hard work of our volunteers including the Scouts, Winslow Lions Club and Winslow Rotary Club has been justified by being able to help so many charities.”
The Winslow Show Association is made up entirely of volunteers together with contributions from the Winslow Lions Club and Winslow Rotary Club. The Associations’ Annual General Meeting will take place on Monday 2 March 2009 at Winslow Town hall. The committee running the 2009 show will be elected and anyone interested in volunteering at the show in 2009 is welcome to attend.
